The Salvos Prelorentzos Peace Awards honour Edmontonians committed to peace and non-violence who have not yet been previously honoured for their work.
This year's award goes to Rev. Audrey Brooks, founder of the Genocide Memorial Garden which just celebrated its 10th year. She is also an active member of Edmonton's Raging Grannies, who will be performing for us this evening.
Our keynote speaker will be Rev. Brian Kiely of the Unitarian Church of Edmonton, where Audrey is also a minister.
The Polovnikoff-Mokry Lifetime Service Award goes to Jitendra Shah, with the Gandhi Foundation.
The Salvos Prelorentzos Peace Awards are organized annually by Project Ploughshares Edmonton, a group dedicated to peace.
