Resist Shaped Nuno Felt:
Exploring the Possibilities of Unique Felted Textile Design
with Melissa Arnold
Workshop registration begins July 14 for both workshops.
September 18 – 20, 2018, 9 am to 4 pm
Workshop location is the Spark Event Centre, 2257 Premier Way #116, Sherwood Park, AB.
In this exciting and innovative 3 day workshop, we will explore some unique textile design ideas inherent to the combinations of pre-felt or nuno prefelt and stitched resist techniques. We will focus on designing a silk and wool layout that explores the use of color and texture, and creating a nuno prefelt. This class is designed for the experienced felter who is interested in creating a unique felted textile for use on the body as a Wrap, Collar and/or Cuff and/or as a dimensional accessory such as a Purse or Bag.
Finishing details, such as the “fabulous felted button” and the “irreverent” button hole will also be included.
FFAA is pleased to host felter Melissa Arnold in September 2018. She will be presenting a trunk show on September 8, and two workshops.
Melissa has specialized in working with Traditional and Contemporary Shibori techniques for over 25 years. She has spent the last 15 years as a Professional Textile Designer, collaborating with fashion designer Catherine Bacon.
