Porch Swing Entertainment & The Audio Department present:
Oddball Productions’ ROCKSTAR 101: UNDERSTANDING STREAMING & HOW TO MAKE IT WORK FOR YOU
Have you changed how you do business to incorporate streaming your music online?
The popularity of streaming music has grown at a rapid pace. As of Dec 31, 2016 the streaming market notched up 100.4 million paid subscribers (with Spotify owning 43% of that number). That’s an increase from 67.5 million subscribers 12 months earlier. Revenues are growing, artists and songwriters discontent is starting to fade and label business models are changing. But this isn’t the new standard yet.
In the streaming market, smaller and mid tier artists are still struggling to make streaming cents add up to their lost sales dollars as download sales decrease. What do you know about the streaming market? What strategies have you attempted to increase your streaming revenue?
In the workshop “Understanding Streaming and how to make it work for you” we will discuss what streaming is, the benefits and cons and look at the various sales streams that can be derived from it.
How do you make your music available on streaming sites? How can we get more people to listen? What are some strategies to help increase revenue?
By the end of this workshop, not only will we answer these questions, but we will also give you some strategies that you can apply to increase your streaming revenue.
This workshop is FREE to attend, but space is limited so register and reserve your spot today. (See link below to register)
Facilitating this workshop will be Oddball Productions’ Danny Fournier
Danny Fournier is a marketing expert and professional music industry consultant with major record label experience. Danny has direct working relationships with various online options like iTunes, Spotify and more and has built effective release strategies that have helped artists debut on the top of their genre’s iTunes Top Seller Charts.
The founder of the Edmonton Music Awards, and community producer and music supervisor for the TV show Edmonton Unplugged, Danny has worn a variety of hats within the music industry but his main focus has always been introducing people to new music and helping artists build success.
Laurie Brown from Porchswing Entertainment said: “This streaming workshop not only gave me a solid foundation on how streaming works, how it generates income and how to properly get set up, it helped me learn how to help run my artists' business more efficiently and how streaming royalties are not only equal to, but often greater than, radio royalties correcting the misconception that streaming doesn’t pay. Streaming is probably the artists’ primary means of distribution in the current music industry. Lots learned and lots more to learn!”
Alan Cross's thoughts on the ROCKSTAR 101 workshops:
«The music game has always been a jungle. But over the last ten years, it's become more complex and confusing. As an artist, where do you start? Where can you ask for advice? How can you effectively compete with the millions of other people vying for the attention of the music fan? Start right here. There's a lot to learn.»
