Are you a pet lover? Do you enjoy getting creative?
Then come join us for a Pet Portrait Paint Night!
Lachelle, owner of The Social Pet Sitter, will be guiding you through a fun creative evening that will end with you taking home a self-created portrait of your pet!
We have partnered with Lucky Donkey Indoor Dog Park in Strathcona, so for this event, there will be space for some social dogs to join us! They will play in the dog park, while we paint in a sectioned off area!
Regular admission (no dog) will cost $55.00
Admission WITH your dog will cost $65.00
To purchase tickets:
Head over to Lucky Donkey ( 10417 79 Ave NW ) and talk with Gabriel there! If you plan on bringing your dog with you, please have your dog come along with you when you go to purchase your ticket. Gabriel will have some paperwork for you to fill in, and a couple questions about your dog's socialization habits. Also please let her know about your art experience (no experience necessary, but always good to know!), or any dietary restrictions or mobility concerns.
Lucky Donkey regular business hours are Tuesday — Thursday 2 — 10pm, Friday 12 — 8pm, Saturday 11am — 7pm, CLOSED Sunday & Monday.

-A playful spirit!
You do NOT need to be an experienced artist to attend this paint night!
We will be focusing on capturing an expressive portrait of your pet. This means that it does not necessarily need to be photo-representational, but more of an expression that is unique to you and the spirit of your pet.
Check out the images attached to see the 'style' we are aiming for!
I will guide the group through steps that will help you achieve an expressive portrait. There is no right or wrong in this style; it's a style that gives the artist a license to be creative!
However, I will be available to offer tips and tricks if you would like them.
Suggestions for choosing a picture of your pet:
1. Try to choose a picture of your pet from a three quarter view (slightly off center) or side view. This usually helps beginner painters, and you usually get to see a bit more of your pet's personality this way.
2. Try to make sure the photo isn't fuzzy, and the lighting is even enough so you can see most of your pet's features. Some shadows can be exciting, but can sometimes be difficult to figure out in paint.
3. Try to make sure the photo is mostly of your pet only. Other things in the picture can be distracting and you may not really be able to see as many details of your pet as you would like.
4. If possible, print your picture larger than a regular photo and in colour. This will help you to find the most success in your painting!
PLEASE share the photo you choose for the paint night with me BEFORE HAND, so that I can give a few pointers. You can either message me on facebook, or share your photo in the discussion of the event! The better your photo aligns with the above criteria, the more success you will find with your painting! :)
Come meet other creative pet lovers, have some fun, and leave with a self-created masterpiece!
