Marissa K Music
with Good Nature and Jess Smith Music
Marissa K is a vibrant, imaginative singer-songwriter based in Edmonton, Alberta. As a fan of escapism, Marissa strives to transport her listeners through her songs into a unique, colourful world. She focuses her songwriting on storytelling, as her inspiration comes from her background in performing in dance and theatre. Her music evokes the vitality and nostalgia of songwriters such as Vanessa Carlton and Sara Bareilles, but has a distinctive, theatrical writing style that is all her own.
Marissa K’s debut EP, Postcards, is being recorded, engineered, and produced by Erin Yamabe, featuring local Edmonton musicians. Postcards will include six entirely original songs written by Marissa K. This EP is a culmination of Marissa’s evolution as a songwriter over the last six years of her career, each piece representing a different milestone in Marissa’s musical growth.
Good Nature is an alternative rock band from Edmonton, Alberta. Beginning in the fall of 2013, the band has since explored a wide array of genres including jazz, pop, R&B, and folk. This has helped them to develop their unique and captivating sound, in part due to their instrumentation. Good Nature puts on exciting live shows with their catchy sing-along choruses, atmospheric harmonies, and driving grooves. Their songs can be heard on many radio stations across Canada such as CHLY, CKUA, CBC, CJSR, CITR, CKXU and CFBX
Self-proclaimed «Urban Flower Child», I am inspired by the contrasts of hippies & gangsters, urban & natural environments, light & dark energy,. The music I create is a blend of Soul & Folk. While taking notes from artists such as Sarah McLachlan and Erykah Badu, my sound remains uniquely its own.
