Ready, set, let’s roll with the official launch of the Downtown Bike Network! The City of Edmonton and a group of community partners are throwing a party to celebrate network, and help educate Edmontonians. It’s your bike party, and everyone’s invited!
Date: SATURDAY, AUGUST 26, 2017
Opening Ceremony: 11AM (Federal Building Plaza)
Where: All over the Downtown Bike Network!
— FIVE pitstops around the Downtown Bike Network
— Kids bicycle rodeo course and bike decorations
— Free fitness classes and bike demos
— Safety tips from Edmonton Transit and the famous Bike Street Team
— DJs and food trucks
And so much more:
(Federal Building Plaza, 9820-107 Street)
Kick off at the Legislature Grounds (Federal Building Plaza) with the opening ceremony at 11AM. At this pitstop, you can rent a bike, grab some food at a food truck, and get your bike tuned up. This is also your starting point for the food tours.
(102 Avenue between 107-108 Street)
Learn how to roll through the Network and get expert advice on navigate all the new features on your bike. Plus Edmonton Transit Services will be on hand to demonstrate racking your bike on the bus. Have a chat with NorQuest and dance to some tunes.
Go Green with Blatchford and MacEwan University
(SW corner of 105 Street and 105 Avenue)
Enjoy the sweet (sustainable) life with bike games, a photobooth, music, honey samples and more.
Urban Commuter Zone
(The Armature, 96 Street between Jasper Avenue and 103 Avenue)
Make bike shorts cool again while you do free HIIT classes, plan an adventure with Exodus Travel and try out some sweet bikes with Revolution Cycle.
Family Fun Zone
(Downtown Edmonton Community League, 10042-103 Street)
Try some tricks on the (kids only) bike rodeo course, decorate the whole fam's bikes, dance to music, hang out with the CASA mascot and so much more.
But wait...it doesn't end there!
— Take the tasty route on a FREE food tour. Limited tickets available at the Main Stage.
— Salivate over the food trucks at each of the pitstops.
— Explore all of the other Downtown events including Experience Jasper Ave and the City Market on 104 Street.
No pedals? No problem. We’re celebrating how the new Network will benefit cyclists, pedestrians and motorists alike. We’ll also have bike rentals available (credit card needed).
