Nominations for the Executive Committee are now open! We are looking for dedicated and enthusiastic people who want to please Allah(SWT) and work for the benefit of Muslims on campus. To nominate an individual or yourself, please do so using this google doc form:
The deadline to submit nominations is Tuesday, May 16 by 9pm.
Please make every effort to attend the elections that will decide next year’s Executive Committee!
Elections Procedure: Those who accept their MSA Executive Committee nomination will be asked to email a brief paragraph about themselves and why they are a good candidate for the MSA Executive Committee. At the May 19th Election, nominees will present their qualifications and answer audience questions. Thereafter 12 people will be voted onto the MSA Executive Committee inshaAllah (if someone would like to accept their nomination but is unable to attend the elections in person, they may submit a video detailing their qualifications in lieu of their absence). Soon after the newly-elected Executive Committee will meet and vote among themselves to determine the specific roles (e.g. President, Secretary, etc.).
In preparation for the upcoming MSA Elections, we will be accepting suggestions for amendments to the MSA Constitution (http://msauofa.com/about/our-constitution/). If you have a suggestion, please draft a copy of the changes you wish to suggest and submit it to [email protected]
before Tuesday May 9, 2017 at 9pm. We will only accept proposed changes that have been formally drafted in writing.
If we receive suggestions, they will discussed at a Constitutional Reform Meeting on Friday May 12 at 5pm in SUB 0-31. The MSA welcomes all general members to provide their input in revising the constitution, which serves as the guideline for all policy and decision-making in the upcoming year.
Constitutional Reform Procedure: The proposed constitutional changes will be put forward to the current MSA Executive Committee and must pass by a two-thirds majority vote including the vote of the President who may veto the amendment. If the President vetoes the amendment they must provide a written explanation to the rest of the Executive Committee. Thereafter, at the May 19th MSA Elections, the proposed changes must pass by a simple majority vote in a quorum of at least 30 Brothers and Sisters.
